Regional Studies (Near and Middle Eastern Countries)
Upon graduation, students majoring in Regional Studies acquire the following professional competencies, knowledge and skills:
- Able to analyze and evaluate international political processes on the basis of geographical knowledge and arguments, having an adequate understanding of the political map of the modern world, its political-territorial structure, its dynamics and the latest transformations on all continents.
- Comparative study of the political systems of the region, the use and division of political power, the identification of common and different features between political manifestations, the relationship between the legislative and executive authorities in these countries, the existing political regimes, relations between central and local governments, political parties, is able to analyze processes and determine the role of individuals, political groups and elites in the implementation of political governance.
- The foreign policy mechanism of the countries of the region is able to analyze the stages of the decision-making process in the field of foreign policy and the factors influencing this process, to make preliminary predictions on the main directions of historical policy.
- Able to work with media materials, conduct research on specific topics, collect factual materials, summarize and draw conclusions.
- Able to analyze the situation in the field of building a democratic society, ensuring the rule of law, protection of human rights and freedoms.
- Deeply masters the history of the region, can identify the historical causes of modern processes developing in the region, reveals the legacy between historical and modern processes.
- Knows the formation, goals and objectives of modern diplomacy, the main directions of development, structure and mechanisms, is able to implement the rules of protocol and etiquette, knows the organization of diplomatic services of leading countries, is able to prepare diplomatic documents.
