This course provides an introduction to the key theories, issues, and policies in the field of development economics. It focuses on understanding the economic challenges faced by low- and middle-income countries and explores strategies for achieving sustainable and inclusive growth. Topics include poverty, inequality, human capital, population growth, structural transformation, international aid, and the role of institutions in development. The course also incorporates elements of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially those aimed at eradicating poverty, improving education and health, and promoting sustainable economic development.
